November Staff Picks

Tasting Saturday 2pm-6pm

Parducci 2014 Chardonnay, California (Jessica)

From grapes grown entirely in Mendocino County, this wine was aged 30% in new French oak and 70% in stainless steel. Pears, wildflower honey and crisp apple flavors are followed by a creamy vanilla-caramel finish. A marvelous Chardonnay to pair with cream of crab soup! Rated 90pts by Wine Enthusiast.

Regularly: $13.99

Mills Club: $12.59

Case Price: $11.19

Albert Mann 2014 Pinot Gris Rosenberg, Alsace, France (Carolyn)

We recently tasted this wine and made room for it in our already-full Alsatian section! Hand harvested from 25 year old vines in Wettolshiem, this brilliant Pinot Gris is the perfect entertaining wine! Vibrant acidity , smoky minerality and fruit flavors of plum, pear and lemon are apparent on the lingering finish! Rated 91pts Wine Spectator.

Case Price: $23.19

Dr. Hans VonMuller 2015 Dry Riesling, Rhein, Germany (Jen & Jerry)

Regular Price: $10.00

Mills Club $9.00

Case Price $8.00

Menhir Salento 2014 “Pietra”, Puglia, Italy (Pat D.)

Boutique producer Menhir Salento is owned and operated by two brothers in Puglia who utilize organic vineyard practices. With 60% Primitivo and 40% Susumaniello, this bold wine will work great with smoked cured meats, tomato sauces, and hard cheeses. With a nose of currant and cinnamon, this is a warm, big-bodied red. Primitivo is a close relative to our California Zinfandel, and “Susumaniello” is a grape whose name literally translates to “donkey load”, referring to the amount of grapes the vine produces early in life.

Regular Price: $19.99

Mills Club: $17.99

Case Price: $15.99

Chateau Perganson 2015 Haut-Medoc, Bordeaux, France (Aron)

2015 was a banner vintage year in Bordeaux and this wine is literally our first 2015 arrivalwine image. This Haut Medoc is made from a blend of 75% Cabernet and 25% Merlot. Blackberry, cherry and cassis notes are followed by a hint of pencil lead. Excellent structure! Great value for a classic Bordeaux. Try with lamb or beef dishes.

Regular Price: $14.99

Mills Club: $13.49

Case Price: $11.99

Telios 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Lodi, California (Tim)

This is a great value Cab from the same producers that make the elegant, iconic Axios Napa Cab! Aromas and flavors of chocolate, dark fruits, and just a touch of mint flow through to the spicy, seamless finish. Try with beef stew or grilled skirt or flank steak.

Regularly: $15.99

Mills Club: $14.39

Case Price: $12.79

Sunday 1-4pm

Rive Della Chiesa Non-Vintage Frizzante Prosecco DOC, Veneto, Italy (Pat D.)

We really enjoy this new Prosecco, made in the Charmat method from the Glera grape. Made by two brothers (Luigi and Michele Gasparetto) based in Treviso, this is entirely estate grown and produced! A beautiful nose and even though it is “extra dry” we thought it was closer to a Brut, also, as a Frizzante, it has fewer bubbles than a regular Prosecco.. To open, remove the rope on top and open with a regular wine bottle opener. Try with salads, cheeses or as a lovely aperitif!

Regularly: $14.99

Mills Club: $13.49

Case Price: $11.99

Analemma 2013 Gewurztraminer, Columbia Gorge, Washington (Jen & Jerry)

As Turkey Day fast approaches, one must consider the perfect wine to pair with this traditional meal. An Alsatian-styled Gewurztraminer such as this one is an excellent choice. Notes of quinine, spice, pear and flowers on the nose, dry with spicy fruit flavors on the finish.

Regularly: $27.99

Mills Club: $25.19

Case Price: $22.39

Knob Hall 2015 Rosé of Cabernet Franc, Washington County, Maryland (Tim)

This dry rosé is filled with strawberry and cherry fruit notes, has great acidity and body and a pleasing crisp finish. Try with smoked salmon or sushi.

Regularly: $18.99

Mills Club: $17.09

Case Price: $15.19

Poppy 2014 Pinot Noir, California(Jessica)

Aromas of raspberries, strawberries, and mocha are balanced by some toasty French oak aromas. This is a bright and vibrant Pinot with a juicy mouthfeel, perfect to pair with poultry or seafood; it also makes a wonderful hostess gift!

Regular Price: $15.99

Mills Club: $14.39

Mills Club: $19.79

Case Price: $17.59
