Creating a

Fine Taste

In Annapolis

Since Prohibition

In post-Prohibition Annapolis, Billy Mills operated “Mills Cut Rate Liquors”, a general store replete with necessary supplies, all-important liquor and chicken coops out back producing farm fresh eggs.

Mr. Mills approached father and son Joseph and Hillard Donner and asked them to purchase his store in 1946. Hillard, having returned from World War II as a Navy Radioman aboard submarine searching blimps, accepted the challenge and proceeded to build one of the premier Wine and Spirits resources in the Mid Atlantic region. He moved the store to its current location in the City Dock at 87 Main Street, and developed a large, rich, varied wine collection from many of the worlds’ very best vintners. Mr. Donner’s knowledge of wine, warmth of personality, and spirit of philanthropy are legendary.

Meet The Owners

Jerry & Jennifer Donahoe

In late 2012, the Donner family passed the baton to Jerry and Jennifer Donahoe. Jerry and Jennifer graduated from the Naval Academy in 1994 and served in surface ships in the Navy until the late 90s. Returning to Annapolis, they worked as entrepreneurs in the defense contracting industry. At Mills, they are able to perfectly pair their love of wine and bourbon with their passion for business and commitment to excellence in customer service. Residing in Annapolis with their three young children, they enjoy being active members of many important causes in the community.
