This weekend, try a thoughtful selection of some of our current favorites at Mills, all selected to represent great value for the price and to pair with seasonally appropriate foods! Half of the 12 wines will be open on Saturday, the other half on Sunday as outlined below:

Tasting Saturday

2014 Cantino Sant’Isidoro “Pie de Colle” Verdicchio di Matelica DOC, Marche, Italy (Pat D.)

If you are a fan of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio and are looking to branch out, give this high quality Verdicchio a try. Sustainably farmed vineyards, all within the Corridonia town perimeter, are spread over 13 hectares of argillaceous limestone lending a wonderful minerality to the wine. Weygandt-imported, this white has beautiful lemon blossom on the nose and nice acidity making it an ideal pairing for creamy pasta dishes.

Regularly: $18.99

Mills Club: $17.09

Case Price: $15.19

2013 UpperCut Chardonnay, Napa (Tim)

This Chardonnay is a top value! Aromas of pear and baked apple and flavors of hazelnut and toasted oak make this a complimentary wine for cream of crab soup, baked chicken, or lobster.

Regularly: $10.00

Mills Club: $9.00

Case Price: $8.00

Atanea 2012 Pinot Noir, Chile (Jen & Jerry)

Made by the same family that produces the famed Bordeaux Leoville Poyferre, with the same meticulous attention to detail and passion for winemaking- minimal intervention is their style- only in the Casablanca Valley of Chile instead of France. Exotic aromas of allspice and black cherry accompany dark cherry and plum fruit notes on the supply textured, impressively long finish. This is a special value! Try with duck dishes, salmon, or grilled Portobello mushrooms.

Regular Price: $22.99

Special Sale Price: $18.39

Di Majo Norante 2013 Sangiovese IGT, Southern Italy(Pat D.)

Try this gem that gives more than a wine of twice the price, rated 90pts by Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, “Red fruit energy emerges from the glass. Cherry, dried blackberry and currants are part of the aromatic equation. So are softer aromas of spice, leather and tobacco. That crisp Sangiovese acidity comes through nicely and the wine ends with firm tannins and an elegantly streamlined mouthfeel.” Try with aged hard cheeses, or game dishes such as venison, boar, or squab.

Regular Price: $11.99

Mills Club: $10.79

Case Price: $9.59

Alain Jaume 2014 “Haut de Brun” Cotes du Rhone (Carolyn)

A lovely Kysela-imported selection, this time a silky smooth Cotes du Rhone, blended from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. Enjoy fresh berries and spice on the nose and palate with a touch of licorice and pepper on the finish. The big, full flavored nature of this wine suggest an excellent match with roasted or baked chicken dishes, or soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.

Regularly: $14.99

Special Sale Price: $11.99

Chateau L’Argilus du Roi 2009 Saint-Estephe (Tim)

We are savoring the big, fruit-forward 2009 Bordeaux while we can, and this full-bodied Saint Estephe will not disappoint. Plum and blackberry flavors with hints of violet and licorice emerge from a beautiful core of fruit and ripe, silky tannins. Wine Spectator awarded a barrel tasting range of 89-92pts; blend composition 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. Pair with lamb or beef dishes.

Special Sale Price: $27.99
