WINES TASTED SUNDAY 1-5pm
Sant‘Elena 2013 Friulano, Friuli, Italy (Pat Darr)
Previously known as “Tokai Friulano”, Italians have been court ordered to discontinue the use of the word “Tokay” or its derivitives to protect the Tokaj label from Eastern Hungary. So now we have Friulano and the wine is just as delicious! Lively notes of citrus and almond compliment a core of minerality. Sant’Elena hand harvests its fruit- extremely low yields mean approximately one bottle of wine per plant at harvest time, resulting in delightful concentration and intensity. Try with pan-fried white fish with lemon butter sauce and capers, or a roast chicken with thyme stuffing.

Potel-Aviron 2010 Moulin a Vent Cru Beaujolais, France (Carolyn)
This wine is crafted from the Gamay grape, and unlike the fun and fruity “Beaujolais Nouveau” celebrated and released prior to Thanksgiving, this is a serious complex and delicious wine that drinks much like a fuller-bodied Pinot Noir. Rated 91pts Wine Spectator, “Well-knit, with a core of mineral and spice, and notes of blackberry, grilled plum, tar, dried floral and herb. Fine-grained tannins show on the fresh, graphite-tinged finish. Drink thru 2020.”
