2013 Novellum Chardonnay, Languedoc-Roussillon, France (Pat)
A beautiful Chardonnay from Southern France considered by many to be one of the best Chardonnay values on the US Market. Because it is unoaked, it pairs deliciously with a wide variety of foods. This wine earned 92pts from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, “Novellum is a crazy value that needs to be tasted to be believed. This Cotes Catalanes is aged three months in a combination of Burgundy barrels and stainless steel. Exotic and perfumed, with ample white peach, crème, brioche, and subtle nuttiness, it flows onto the palate with a medium to full-bodied, layered and beautifully detailed texture that shows bright acidity and fantastic purity of fruit. An incredible effort that has both richness and freshness, it should continue to thrill for another handful of years.”

The palate is well-balanced with tangerine and orange zest on the entry, leading to some attractive honey notes toward the rounded, generous finish…” Try with roast chicken or lobster.
