Alois Lageder 2012 Muller Thurgau, Alto Adige, Italy (Jen and Jerry)

We love this quality dry white wine from the northernmost winemaking region of Italy, the Alto Adige. Alois Lageder is a fifth generation proprietor and his brother-in-law Luis von Dellemann is the winemaker. Muller Thurgau is the grape, yielding a medium-bodied, crisp white with balanced acidity and citrusy grapefruit overtones that is a wonderful alternative for Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc lovers who are looking for something new. Enjoy with seafood or chicken soup!

Domaine Guerrin Macon-Vergisson 2013 Les Rochers, Burgundy, France (Pat)

There is no oak present in this lovely Chardonnay-all stainless steel fermentation-and the grapes come from 35 year old vines in two plots with predominately limestone and clay soils which impart a very pleasing mineral quality with hints of citrus and baked bread that is almost reminiscent of Chablis. Pair this super value wine with roasted chicken or turkey, raw oysters, white fish, lobster and vegetables. Delicious!

Domaine Collotte Marsannay 2011 “Les Champsalomon”, Burgundy, France (Pat)

Phillipe Collotte is one of the hottest winemakers in Marsannay, a Burgundy appellation located just outside of Dijon on the northern side of the Cote de Nuits. Medium bodied with fine acidity and lots of dark cherry and blueberry notes and finally a seamless, graceful finish. This is an elegant wine worthy of the Thanksgiving table and any poultry it might accompany!

Jean-Louis Tribouley Cotes Catalanes 2011 “Orchis” Vieilles Vignes, Languedoc Roussillon, France (Mike)

This is “WOW” wine, and created a little stir at Mills when it arrived. It’s another super value from Languedoc, and it must be tasted last. Rated 93pts Wine Advocate, “Offering a knockout bouquet of sweet blackberry, currants, resinous scrub brush, violets, and pepper, Tribouley’s Orchis is an incredible value that hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, fantastic mid-palate richness and sweet tannin that starts to emerge on the finish. Reminding me of a release from Gauby, with a slightly exotic, hard-to-describe quality that’s enhanced by loads of fruit and texture, this beautiful effort makes the most of the vintage and should put a smile on everyone’s face over the coming decade.” Drink 2014-2024.
