Cieck 2020 Erbaluce di Caluso, Piedmont, Italy (Andres)
Erbaluce is an ancient Piedmont varietal, the name derived from Erba (dawn) and luce (light), referring to the striking copper hue the grapes assume as the sun strikes them. If you’ve never heard of Erbaluce, you are not alone: mentioned in texts dating to 1606, it’s long been popular in Piedmont, but never gained global popularity. Showing flavors of stone fruit, citrus and mountain herb and a lingering pleasing finish, this versatile white wine pairs equally well with grilled rockfish or antipasti.
