WINES TO TASTE SATURDAY 2-6pm

Naverran 2017 Rosè Cava, Penedes, Spain(Pat)

Made from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Parellada, this is an estate-grown, vintage Cava that spends 18 months aging on the lees after fermentation, resulting in a deeper, more complex Sparkling wine. The Naverran family has been farming this property since 1901, located a few miles south of Barcelona. Zesty, fresh and aromatic, this citrusy Cava serves as a great aperitif, or to pair with soft cheeses or chicken or pork dishes.

Regular Price: $15.99

Mills Club Price: $14.39
Case Price: $12.79

Lexicon 2018 Chardonnay, Swartland, South Africa (Andrew)

From Swartland, this affordable 100% Chardonnay is made by importer Fran Kysela.  Rich and full-bodied, this features aromas of ripe apples, limes and pears all enhanced by subtle and well-integrated oak from 3-6 months of French oak aging. Try with cream of crab soup, spaghetti with carbonara sauce, or seared scallops.

Regular Price: $10.00

Mills Club Price: $9.00

Case Price $8.00

Tegernseerhof 2018 Federspiel Riesling, Austria (Tim)

Martin Mittelbach is the winemaker at this ancient estate overlooking the Danube River in the Wachau region of Austria. Benedictine monks first built the original facilities in 1176, and it’s where the Tegernsee Abbey produced their wine thousands of years ago. The vines are planted to stone terraces, which lend a nice minerality to the wine balanced by ripe apple notes and a dry finish. Enjoy this vivacious Riesling with sushi or spicy Thai or Mexican fare.

Regular Price: $19.99

Mills Club Price: $17.99
Case Price: $15.99

Margarett’s Vineyard 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, California (Jen & Jerry)

The grandson of John and Margarett Parducci of McNab Ridge Winery, Rich Parducci, makes Margarett’s Vineyard wines at his small winery in Mendocino County, the name a nod to Grandma. This pretty Cabernet Sauvignon (with 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petite Verdot added to the blend) features dark chocolate, blackberry and raspberry aromas, and vanilla spice and mild toasty oak on the palate.  Enjoy with beef stroganoff, or meatloaf.

Regular Price: $14.99

Mills Club Price: $13.49
Case Price: $11.99

St. Damien “La Bouveau” 2016 Cotes du Rhone, France (Aron)

Domaine St Damien is consistently our favorite Gigondas producer, named for a Christian saint martyred in 287 AD. This bottling is one of their Cotes-du-Rhone, made from 80% Syrah, 15% Cinsault and 5% Viognier, aged in concrete tanks. The wine is medium-bodied, with lots of fruit notes featuring blackberries and violets, finishing with spicy peppery herbs. Drink this wine with a classic oven-roasted chicken. ORGANIC

Regular Price: $18.99

Mills Club Price: $17.09
Case Price: $15.19

Domaine La Tour Vielle 2017 Banyuls “Rimage”(Andres)

This beguiling dessert wine is made from 90% Grenache and 10% Carignan planted to schist soils by Vincent Cantiè and Christine Campadieu, a couple who grew up in the seaport towns of Collioure and Banyuls, just north of the Spanish border. The wine is made when the fermentation is stopped by the addition of distilled spirits, making a sweet and fruity wine with a heady 16% alcohol level, perfect as a digestif or alongside a decadently rich chocolate dessert

Regular Price: $28.99/500ml bottle

Mills Club Price: $26.09
Case Price: $23.19

WINES TASTED SUNDAY 1-4pm

Fouchet 2018 Muscadet Sevre & Maine l’Augellerie, Loire Valley, France (Jen & Jerry)

Thinking of seafood tonight? Consider a bottle of Muscadet, one of the best values from the Loire Valley. Muscadet is made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape and has long been produced as flavorless bulk white wine.  However this nearly bone-dry bottling is bright with citrusy acidity and grounded with a stony minerality, and will work wonderfully with mussels, oysters, scallops or shrimp!

Regular Price: $12.99

Mills Club Price: $11.69
Case Price: $10.39

The Royal 2019 Chenin Blanc, Swartland, South Africa (Andres)

Uncomplicated yet delicious, this every day wine offers up lots of guava, melon and gooseberry fruit notes and fresh, crisp acidity.  This would be a nice pairing with the slimming salads of January; try with mixed greens topped with poached chicken, apples and walnuts dressed with a tangy vinaigrette.

Regular $10.00

Mills Club Price: $9.00
Case Price: $8.00

Buena Vista 2017 Chardonnay, Carneros, California (Aron)

With a history dating back to 1857, this winery has a colorful past, most recently falling under the guidance of Jean-Charles Boisset.  Cold winter evenings would benefit from a glass of this full-bodied, lush and round Chardonnay, rich with apple, pear and baked pineapple notes. Barrel fermentation followed by 12 months aging in French and Hungarian oak make for a toasty, nutty finish which will stand up to hearty roasted chicken, creamy soups, or lobster.

Regular Price $29.99

Mills Club $26.99

Case Price $23.99

Tommasi Poggio al Tufo 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Tuscany, Italy (Pat)

We’ve found Tommasi wines typically represent great value for the money, including this Cabernet Sauvignon, which features brooding blackberry and black currant notes and a pleasing toasted spice. Pair with Beef Braciole, Lasagna Bolognese, or simple spaghetti with meatballs.  Rated 91pts Wine Spectator.

Regular Price: $16.99

Mills Club Price: $15.29
Case Price: $13.59

Des Trois Moulin 2017 Cotes du Bourg, Bordeaux, France (Andrew)

The Cotes du Bourg appellation of Bordeaux surrounds the town of Bourg-sur-Gironde, where Romans planted the first vineyards.  Winemaker Alain Faure is the sixth generation of his family to be making wine at this property, where his two daughters work alongside him. Made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, this shows pretty cherry and raspberry notes and a round, elegant finish, making it ideal to pair with charcuterie, lamb or braised beef dishes.

Regular Price: $11.99

Mills Club Price: $10.79
Case Price: $9.59

Alain Jaume 2016 La Butte d’Or St Joseph, France (Tim)

This red is made from 100% Syrah planted to granite and marl soils on hillsides facing southeast in the St. Joseph appellation of Northern Rhone. St-Joseph wines were favored by Louis XII (1498-1515), who owned a vineyard there called Clos de Touron.  St. Joseph and Northern Rhone in general has a continental climate with cold wet winters marked by mistral winds, as opposed to the Mediterranean climate in the better-known Southern Rhone region. The nose on this red shows pepper and jammy red fruits, while the palate is full-bodied and intense with medium tannins and a long finish. Try with hearty comfort foods such as beef stew or leg of lamb.

Regular Price: $29.99

Mills Club Price: $26.99
Case Price: $23.99
