Zorzettig 2018 Sauvignon, Friuli, Italy (Andrew)

A taste of this wine left us unable to resist its charms; addition to our already overflowing Italian white wine section was inevitable. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc harvested from the Friuli Colli Orientali appellation, this boasts robust flavors of lemon peel, sage and elderberry. Bright acidity makes this a lively match for asparagus, risotto, and creamy pastas. Downright delicious!

Chateau Spencer la Pugade “La P’tite Envie” 2018 Corbieres Blanc, France (Pat)

From the Languedoc-Roussillon subregion of Corbieres comes this refreshing white wine made from 70% Vermentino, 20% Roussanne and 10% Marsanne.  Floral aromatics precede fresh, mouth watering acidity; try with mixed greens topped with poached chicken, apples and walnuts dressed with a tangy vinaigrette.

Chateau Minuty M 2019 Rosè, Provence (Aron)

Minuty has established itself as the most popular Rosè in Provence, the Saint-Tropez peninsula seemingly awash in its pink freshness! Chateau Burgozone Via Istrum Marsalan, Bulgaria (Jen & Jerry)

Chateau Burgozone is located in the Danubian Plain of Bulgaria, with ruins of the Roman Fortress of Burgozone in the vineyard! Via Istrum is the ancient Roman road which the fortress was built upon. This red is made from the Marsalan grape, a varietal that was made in France in 1961 by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Aged in French oak for 12 months, it features cherry and black fruit notes and soft tannins. Try with barbecued or roasted meats.

Bodegas D Mateos La Mateo Rioja (Andres)

Seven generations of the Mateos family have farmed this land, an ideal site 385 meters above sea level with clay loam soil, excellent drainage and optimal sunlight. Made entirely of Tempranillo with an average vine age of 45 years, the wine ages 14 months in mostly new French oak. This lively but well-balanced Rioja exudes intense aromas of blackcurrants and ripe strawberry, blackberry and plum fruit notes, with hints of spice and a soft, almost creamy texture.  Try with stews or braised meats.

Founded in 1974 by Pat and Joe Campbell, their son Adam Campbell joined as winemaker in 1995, and they are still proudly family owned and operated.  Made entirely from the Pinot Gris grape, all estate grown, this white shows lemon, lime and green apple note flavors and aromas.  Rated 91pts Wine Enthusiast “Editors’ Choice”. Enjoy with creamy pasta dishes, spicy fish tacos, or meatier fish such as salmon or halibut.

Marc Plouzeau Perles Sauvage Sparkling Brut Nature Rosè (Jen & Jerry)

Marc Plouzeau, a well-respected winemaker in the Chinon region of the Loire Valley, produces this Sparkling wine from Cabernet Franc planted to gravel and limestone parcels.  “Sauvage” translates to wild, or natural. This pretty sparkling wine would the ideal harbinger of spring, with delicate aromas of fresh raspberry and strawberry and flavors of berries, a touch of earth and a bone dry finish. Natural wines can appear cloudy as no fining agents or filtration measures are used.

Domaine Alary 2018 La Grange Daniel Roussanne, Rhone, France (Andrew)

The Alary family has been producing wine since 1692, during the reign of Louis XIV. Located in the village of Cairanne, Denis Alary is blessed with a variety of terroir, from clay-dominated slopes to stony terraces, therefore, the wines range from serious, rich, reds to lighter, fresh and fruity whites.  This white wine, made entirely from the Roussanne grape, is fresh with notes of honey and white flowers, while the palate is crisp and minerally. Try this wine with roasted chicken or grilled pork. ORGANIC

Sparkman Cellars Holler 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington (Pat)

This excellent Cabernet is polished, supple, and layered, showing black cherry, espresso, tobacco and underlying spice notes. With excellent structure and refined tannins, this wine would pair perfectly with lamb or as the weather warms, grilled steaks. Kelly and Chris Sparkman launched the winery in 2004.  The name Holler comes from the area Chris’s parents live in Knoxville, Tennessee. The wine contains 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 7% Petit Verdot and 3% Merlot, and spends 18mos in French and American oak.

Steelhead 2017 Pinot Noir, Monterey, California (Aron)

This Pinot Noir over delivers for the price, expressing complex dark cherry and ripe plum notes, with pretty undertones of earth and rose petal.  A soft and supple texture makes for an easy-to-drink red with a smooth, lingering finish.  The winery name Steelhead is a nod to the Steelhead trout which they’ve helped to support with restoration efforts in Northern California waterways.  Try with seafood or roast chicken.

Grieve Family Sauvignon Blanc, Napa, California(Andrew)

A bone dry Sauvignon Blanc from Napa, which tasted more like an aged Graves Bordeaux than a California Sauvignon Blanc.  Complex aromas of apricot, nectarine, peach, grapefruit, honeydew and hyacinth lead to flavors of spring flowers, citrus and cardamom. Crisp with bright acidity, this mouth-watering, juicy wine will pair well with a special sushi meal, fish accompanied by beurre blanc, or arugula dressed with citrus vinaigrette and parmigiano shavings.

Poças Junior 2017 Douro Vale de Cavalos, Portugal(Pat)

This vibrant dry red wine from the Eastern Douro region features rich blue and black fruits and spice notes. A blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 20% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz and 10% Tinta Barroca planted to schist soils, only a portion of the wine ages in used French oak.  Rated 92pts Wine Enthusiast. Domaine Lafage 2019 Miraflors Rosè, Cotes Catalanes, France (Aron)

Made from Mourvedre, Grenache Gris, and Grenache, this wine is named for Mas Miraflors, an estate located on the Domaine. Dry yet full-flavored, this shows white peach, orange zest and a hint of salinity from the nearby Mediterranean Sea.  Savor on its own or enjoy with appetizers, salads, or pizza.

Conti Speroni 2016 Barbaresco DOCG, Piedmont, Italy (Jen & Jerry)

This red is made from 100% Nebbiolo which spends two years in large oak barrels before resting in bottle for 6 months prior to release.   The Speroni family has been making wine for four generation now, with grapes sourced from 30 hectares of vineyards in the Monferrato area or Piedmont.  Full-bodied and tannic, this red is best enjoyed with food, and especially with lamb and braised beef.  Barbaresco prices can soar high, with top producers like La Spinetta commanding over $100 per bottle, which makes this Barbaresco all the more exceptionally priced!

Domaine Maurice Schoech 2018 Vin d’Alsace Blanc Cotes d’Ammerschwihr (Tim)

This lovely white is primarily Pinot Blanc, with a touch of aromatic Muscat from hilly vineyards near the village of Les Trois Epis. Showing earthy ripe pear and lemon zestiness on the dry, clean palate, this pairs well with mussels, soft cheeses, or anchoiade, a local Alsatian dip made with anchovies, olive oil, vinegar and garlic.  The Schoech family traces their roots to the vineyards of Ammerschwihr to 1650.
