WINES TO TASTE SATURDAY 2-6pm

Belezos 2014 Rioja Blanco, Spain (Jess)

Made from the Macabeo (aka Viura) grape from the Rioja Alavesa region, this white features white blossom aromatics and concentrated baked apple fruit with pleasing spicy cinnamon notes and a creamy texture. Aged for 6 months in American oak followed by six months in bottle before release, this wine was built for winter warmth. Enjoy with baked chicken with macaroni and cheese or spicy chicken enchiladas.

Regular Price: $15.99

Mills Club Price: $14.39
Case Price: $12.79

Francis Ford Coppola Votre Santè 2014 Chardonnay, California (Jen & Jerry)

Francis Ford Coppola’s grandmother Maria Zasa was an Italian woman born in French Tunisia. “Votre santé” was the toast she would utter, “to your health” when she raised a glass, and that’s the inspiration behind this wine. Featuring flavors of pear, peach and honeysuckle, half the wine is fermented in French oak, imparting vanilla and nutmeg notes while the other half is fermented in stainless steel, maintaining the crisp acidity. Try with cream of crab soup or roasted pork chops stuffed with apples, breadcrumbs and raisins.

Regular Price: $15.99

Mills Club Price: $14.39
Case Price: $12.79

Massimago 2014 Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Italy (Pat D.)

This Amarone is crafted from a blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes, hand harvested then placed on flat wooden trays and left to dry for 90 days in a “fruttaio” or drying barn before crushing.  Fermentation in French oak is followed by an additional 30 months aging in oak, then 12 more months in bottle.  Full-bodied and complex, this features bright cherry and brooding black pepper notes and a smooth velvety texture. Try with a rosemary crusted beef tenderloin, or a traditional Italian osso bucco. ORGANIC

Regular Price: $38.99

Mills Club Price: $35.09
Case Price: $31.19

Essay Shiraz, Swartland, South Africa (Pat D.)

“Essay” refers to “SA”, the abbreviation for South Africa.  This medium-bodied weeknight red is inspired by Rhone Valley wines, comprised mostly of Syrah with smaller amounts of Cinsault, Mourvedre and Grenache.  It features ripe plum cherry fruit with a touch of pepper spice and would be the perfect pairing for cheeseburgers or chili con carne.

Regular Price: $10.99

Mills Club Price: $9.89
Case Price: $8.79

Michael David 2016 Petite Petit, California  (Andrew)

This is a big bold red, made from 85% Petite Sirah and 15% Petit Verdot, full-bodied with lush blackberry and blueberry fruit notes, black pepper spice, and vanilla from 13 months in French oak.  Enjoy this opulent red with prime rib or braised short ribs.

Alvear Solera 1927 Pedro Ximènez Sherry (Jess)

Enjoy this specialty non-vintage sherry which boasts notes of fig, toffee, and coffee, a rich, dense effort produced from vineyards located at an elevation of 1,050 feet in the famed chalky soil of Albariza. 40 year old vines produce the grapes, which are hand-harvested and dried on mats in the sun. Rated 98pts Robert Parker and ranked #5 on Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Wines of 2017.

Regular Price: $32.99/375ml bottle

Mills Club Price: $29.69
Case Price: $26.39

WINES TASTED SUNDAY 1-4pm

Chateau de Fleys Chablis 1er Cru 2015 “Mont de Milieu”, France (Andres)

The Phillipon family owns this small estate in Chablis; they used to sell all their grapes but they are now bottling their own wines, and have met with success! This 1er Cru version from Mont de Milieu vineyard is a beautiful expression of Chardonnay, complex and rich, coursing with minerality from the Kimmeridgien soils. Try with oysters, lobster, crab meat risotto or foie gras!

Regular Price: $37.99

Mills Club Price: $34.19
Case Price: $30.39

Paxis 2017 White, Portugal (Aron)

Juicy peaches, fresh watermelon slices and undertones of pear and mango accent this simple table white wine with a steely, mineral finish.  The grapes are Arinto, Fernào Pires, Alvarinho and Chardonnay. Try with green salads or sushi!

Regular $10.00

Mills Club Price: $9.00
Case Price: $8.00

Escarlata 2014 Colchagua Red, Chile (Tim)

Escarlata means “scarlet” in Spanish, a reference to the beautiful red hue of the wine.  A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carmenere and Malbec, all estate grown in the Colchagua Valley, comprises this vibrantly fruited wine with just a touch of oak for depth and complexity.  Enjoy with steak fajitas or lasagna Bolognese.

Regular Price $12.99

Mills Club $11.69

Case Price $10.39

Pares Balta 2015 Mas Petit, Penedes, Spain (Tim)

We’ve always enjoyed the Sparkling Cava wines of Penedes but had not explored many of the still wines of the region- this is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Garnacha, which spends roughly 7 months in used French oak. Medium-bodied and exuding ripe strawberry and raspberry fruits along with toasty vanilla notes, this very pleasing and affordable red would work with a charcuterie plate or empanadas. ORGANIC

Regular Price: $13.99

Mills Club Price: $12.59
Case Price: $11.19

Chateau Fontesteau 2015 Haut-Medoc, France (Jen & Jerry)

This Bordeaux from the excellent 2015 vintage year is made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot and a tiny amount of Cabernet Franc from vines just west of Pauillac.  Medium-bodied, it draws you in with a bouquet of pretty berry and cedar notes, while the palate shows fine tannins and lots of red cherry fruit and a balanced amount of spice. Enjoy with leg of lamb, venison steaks, or ropa vieja for a delightful and harmonious winter meal! Rated 91pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

Regular Price: $24.99

Mills Club Price: $22.49
Case Price: $19.99

Robert Mondavi 2017 Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, Monterey, California (Geoffrey)

This Cabernet Sauvignon ages in former Kentucky bourbon barrels, and while it might seem faddish we had to admit this wine exuded a simple, deliciousness not to be denied! Ripe blackberry fruit, cocoa and leather notes parallel an intensity and depth of flavor that will nicely complement shepherd’s pie or oven baked ribs slathered with a zesty barbecue sauce.

Regular Price: $14.99

Mills Club Price: $13.49
