Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo 2013 Carmenere, Chile (Jessica)

An easy-drinking wine from Chile, with ripe black and blue fruit flavors and peppery nuances. Carmenere is a grape that originated in Bordeaux, and is considered a “cousin” of Merlot. In fact, the word Carmenere is derived from the French word for crimson, “carmin”, and is a nod to the deep crimson color of the wine. Carmenere is one of the six original Bordeaux varietals, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. Try with braised beef dishes or pork tacos!

We felt incredibly fortunate to be able to snag a case of wine from this exceptional Virginia winery.
