Made from a blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc in the Champagne Method, then aged 3 years sur lattes, this dry Sparkling wine has a delightful floral mousse and notes of pear, apple and wisteria. Good acidity makes this a delightful pairing with cheeses, salads, shellfish, or chocolate covered strawberries.

Riebeek 2020 Cape Rosè, Swartland, South Africa (Jen & Jerry)

Riebeek was founded in 1941, located on the Western Cape near the Kasteelberg Mountain, one of the earliest established wineries in South Africa.  Their wines usually represent great value for the price, and this is no exception. Vibrant strawberry and cherry notes are followed by a fresh, dry, crisp finish on this Rosè made from the Pinotage grape. Pinotage is a hybrid grape, a cross of Pinot Noir and Cinsault developed in the 1920s in the garden of scientist Abraham Perold.

Domaine Saint-Damien “Plan de Dieu” Vieilles Vignes Cotes du Rhone, France (Jen & Jerry)

The patron saint of doctors, Saint-Damien was martyred in 287AD.  Saint-Damien is also the name of our favorite Gigondas producer. 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah grown on red clay covered by characteristic smooth stone cailloux join forces to make this medium-bodied, silky textured red with notes of ripe black cherry and typical Rhone garrigue. Bring on the roast chicken with rosemary and garlic roasted potatoes for a magical pairing! (90-92pts) RP. ORGANIC

This red is comprised of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot from vines planted to limestone and clay soils. Pretty blue and black fruit notes show on the palate of this medium-bodied wine with a smooth, velvety mouthfeel.  Only stainless steel is used in the vinification process, making for a fresh and lively expression, try with lamb chops or slow-simmered beef stew. Valravyn 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County, California (Tim)

Cabernet grapes from Alexander Valley and Moon Mountain are the source for this bold red that’s a terrific value.  After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages 16 months in 50% new French oak. Showing off notes of blue and purple berry fruit, sweet spice, graphite, toast and vanilla, this is the perfect pairing for steaks.  90pts Vinous

Tevza 2019 Shavkapito, Republic of Georgia (Aron)

Shavkapito is an indigenous Georgian varietal from the Kartli region.  Grapes are hand-harvested, then crushed in qvevri, the large, egg-shaped clay pots historically used in the fermentation and aging of wines in the Republic of Georgia for thousands of years now.  Winemaker Goga Tevzadze likes to use wild fermentation and experiment with maceration and skin contact time…the result is a wine that is fun, “crazy and alive”. This red shows notes of stewed dark plum and cherry, underscored by forest berry, medium-bodied with round, easy tannins. Pair with lamb or beef stews.

Juan Benegas 2018 Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina (Andrew)

The Benegas family planted the famous Finca Libertad Vineyard, the plot that started it all in Mendoza over 150 years ago! Located in Lujan de Cuyo, the estate grows Malbec and Cabernet Franc. This medium-full bodied Malbec is fruit-driven with voluptuous blueberry and blackberry notes and lovely undertones of licorice, tar, and flower petal.  The wine spends 6 months in used French oak barrels and has very fine tannins, great to pair with steaks (of course!), but also meals with a smokey component such as barbecued chicken or beef, sauces prepared with guajillo chiles, or charcuterie. Rated 92pts James Suckling.

Chakana 2018 Estate Nuna White Field Blend, Lujan de Cuyo, Argentina (Andrew)

The Nuna Vineyard, located at 3,150 ft elevation, was Chakana’s first Demeter certified organic vineyard.  “Nuna”, translating to “soul” in the native Quechua language, reflects the passion the family has for winemaking in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Agrelo, Mendoza. This, their white blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Viognier (only the tiny proportion of Viognier sees a small amount of oak in the production process, while the other grapes see only stainless steel) offers up fresh aromatics of pineapple, apricot, honeysuckle and peach.  Medium-bodied, the blend shows a palate of white peach, lemon and grapefruit, finishing with a hint of limestone. This is light enough to enjoy without food or can be paired with seafood, sauteed vegetables, or salads. ORGANIC
