Created in 2011, Quintessence is made with the most precious cognac from the private reserves of the Marnier-Lapostolle family. GRAND MARNIER® Cellar Master Patrick Raguenaud has carefully selected very rare cognacs coming exclusively from Grande Champagne, the most prestigious growing area of Cognac. He then blended these outstanding eaux-de-vie with very old cognac from the family Paradis, their private cellar. These cognacs date back to 1906. This rare and unique blend of cognacs is then combined with unique double distilled Citrus Bigaradia orange essence resulting from a time honored secret GRAND MARNIER® process. Instead of being macerated in neutral alcohol, oranges are macerated in a very aromatic orange essence before being distilled. The result is a very subtle essence, the quintessence of orange distillation. The blend of cognac and orange essence is then aged in French oak casks, so that the flavors can mature together; reach the perfect balance and the quintessential taste.

Jerry & Jennifer Donahoe
In late 2012, the Donner family passed the baton to Jerry and Jennifer Donahoe. Jerry and Jennifer graduated from the Naval Academy in 1994 and served in surface ships in the Navy until the late 90s. Returning to Annapolis, they worked as entrepreneurs in the defense contracting industry. At Mills, they are able to perfectly pair their love of wine and bourbon with their passion for business and commitment to excellence in customer service. Residing in Annapolis with their three young children, they enjoy being active members of many important causes in the community.
Meet Spirits Manager
Robert Stewart, a St. John’s College graduate and long time Annapolitan, has been with Mills since 2008. He brings a discriminating taste, broad knowledge base of spirits, and a dry sense of wit and wisdom to the store. Robert is a consummate researcher and can be found trolling the internet, studying the Whiskey Bible, and perusing spirits periodicals for the latest and greatest products for your collection. If we don’t have it, Robert can usually find it.

Pat has worked in the wine industry for over 25 years. A syndicated wine writer since 1986, Pat has met with hundreds of winemakers and winery owners and tasted countless varieties of wines in producing his wine articles and reviews. In addition to his passion for wine, Pat is an avid traveler and has extensively explored Burgundy, Bordeaux, Tuscany, Umbria and California wine regions. Pat loves discussing wine and always has great recommendations for your special meal, gift or event!
